What is the true definition of God?

a imaginary existence created by humans either to control others or to fill an emptiness in their heartsWhat is the true definition of God?
The Cosmological Argument for the existence of God:

1. In the world there are effects

2. every effect must have a cause

4. An infinite regress of effects doesn't explain the reason they are caused in the first place

5. Therefore an uncaused cause must exist

(edited)

Obviously theres much more to prove who God is but he can't be finite or changing since he would be subject to cause. An infinite unchanging being does not need a cause. Occam's razor says that you cannot mutiply entities without necessity. This proof submits to Occams razor by showing the necessity for something beyond the universe.

That is more of a text book definition. The truth is, we don't know. We like facts, yet the most common thing we believe in is something that can't be proven. Irony?

Really, what I don't get, is when people say God has infinite wisdom, does this mean God has a sideways 8 for his IQ? What is infinite wisdom, always knowing the right thing, or always knowing everything, or is that even wisdom?
i believe this is a completely personal question each person must answer for themselves, but for me the answer is love, acceptance and understanding in every sense of these words.
The collective name for every living thing... as every living thing is part of the whole..
Don't listen to Dave44, lol. He's just stuck on his intro to philosophy high horse. There are many holes in that argument. I will not get into them here.
Infinite intelligence, all-knowing, benevolent,

love.
we can all guess - but who does really know.

It is enough that we get energy, wisdom, hope and happiness in believing that God exists and knowing that he is always there for you. Actually he is the only one there when you are all alone.

God is the infinite divine being, one in being, yet three persons : Father,Son,and Holy Spirit. God has revealed himself as the ';One who is';, as truth and love, as creator of all that is, as the author of divine revelation, and as the source of salvation.

What is your or the definition of a 'true Christian, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim person'?

Since I have have been on yahoo answers I have noticed that some people refer too, who is supposedly 'A true Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Atheist person etc '. So it made me think of this question how do we/or you define who is a True 'whatever faith/Non faith', and does the concept of 'true' matter. Who is right or wrong and does it matter and why?.

Thank you for your replies.

What is your or the definition of a 'true Christian, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim person'?
True Christian/Jew/Atheist/Muslim has no meaning. It's a common logical fallacy to assert that it does, but it's still intellectually worthless.

Someone could say that no Scotsman puts sugar in his porridge. Well, I say, my friend Angus does put sugar in his porridge. The other person would then say Ah, but no True Scotsman™ puts sugar in his porridge. Angus is a Scotsman no matter what this idiot says, thus showing the complete worthlessness of this line of reasoning. What is your or the definition of a 'true Christian, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim person'?
The atheist is the only one in that group that can clearly be defined.

And you have already received enough definitions for that.

Now if you just look at Christians for example, they have around 1500 different sects, all say they are the only true Christians. I cant find any common Christian definition .

The other religious groups have different sects, but not as many as the Christians, each one of these sects will swear theirs is the only true group.

At least we atheists have one thing in common, we dont believe in God, we do believe all your religions are fabrications.
I would regard someone who is ';true'; as a person who is 100% committed to that belief and understands it fully. I do not believe that Islamic terrorists are ';true muslims'; for example. Radical, yes. But not true to their faith as there is nothing in Islam that warrants war. Just things that some find easy to take out of context and radicalise. I also believe someone who is true would not sin.
Ach, lassie, do ye know a TRUE Scotsman? Didn't think so but basically it's this:

True Jew: Follows the basic tenets written in the Tenakh.

True Christian: Follows the basic tenets written in the New Testament.

True Muslim: Follows the basic tenets written in the Koran

True atheist: Believes in now gods or supernatural beings.
A true Christian you'll know by their fruits.

A true Jewish person...I dunno, lineage? Jews have their own rules on that, like this one: A Jew who believes in Christ can't call themselves a Jew according to Jews. A Jew who is an atheist can still be called a Jew. Yeah, I don't get it either.

A true Muslim, no idea...but unflattering things come to mind.

A true atheist, or anyone who calls themselves an atheist is a person who wants something that's not an identity to be counted as an identity.
A ';true atheist'; is one who truly does not believe in any gods, whatever else they may believe. That's it.

For the others however there's always a much more stringent set of criteria which changes from denomination to denomination. Whether it's Orthodox Jews vs. Reform, or Sunni vs Shi'a, or Catholics vs Protestants vs Orthodox vs Mormons vs JWs etc... there's always someone denying that the others are true believers.
Christian- someone who trusts in Jesus Christ with their salvation %26amp; strives to live a life pleasing to Him.

Jewish- one who is circumcised in his heart toward the God of Abraham

Muslim- one who follows Islam

Atheist- does not believe in god(s)....a= no theist=belief in god

Agnostic- does not know for sure a=no gnostic= know
I am beginning to think that *true* Christians are intolerant of others.

But my actual belief of how the world works, is that TRUE Christians ARE flexible and it's the bigots who are not and misrepresent it all. I guess the a**h*l*s just show their colors more often.
The definition of 'Jewish' is simple:

You are Jewish if:

- your mother is Jewish

- you convert to Judaism

- you are born Jewish AND haven't adopted any other religion

No other definition is relevant, because only Judaism gets to define 'Jewish'.
I've wondered why people say that too.

I wouldn't even try to define it.

It comes across to me as judgemental, (just my opinion) so it's not a term i use or like. I'll leave it up to Almighty God.

blessings : )
True Christian: Lives by Jesus' word and not the Bible's

True Jew: Descended from Abraham.

Don't know about true Muslim

True Atheist: Lacks a belief in the supernatural and trusts science.
my definition of all those is of overall often surprisingly intelligent folk whom have a belief they will not sway from despite and logical arguments and are also often intolerant of each others religion.
An Indian is one who lives in India

A Christian is one who lives in Christ.
a true atheist is someone who doesnt believe in any deity
The atheist is the only one with nothing to prove!
They would have to not just follow but live their beliefs.....
Do to others what you would have them do to you
They are all God's children,

The above illustration is FUELED by pure greed. There's a fine line between love %26amp; hate.Think about it!
LOVER is an intimate relationship, it is a great deal of PHYSICAL,and/or EMOTIONAL INTIMACY. It is usually characterized by ROMANTIC or PASSIONATE LOVE and attachment. It is an intense longing for his/her presence or touch.

It doesn't mean he is my love. I means he is my love-er. Physical. It is an affair that could go in any direction.

Pride refers to a strong sense of self-respect, a refusal to be humiliated as well as joy in the accomplishments of oneself or a person, group, or object that one identifies with.

In Christianity, pride (or vanity or arrogance) is the essentially competitive and excessive belief in one's own abilities that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God, or the worth which God sees in others. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is listed as one of the seven deadly sins, as superbia. What is a true definition of pride?

What the TRUE and ACCURATE definition of BREATHING DIFFICULTY?

    Alternative names

Shortness of breath; Breathlessness; Difficulty breathing; Dyspnea

    Definition

Breathing difficulties involve a sensation of difficult or uncomfortable breathing or a feeling of not getting enough air.

    Considerations

No standard definition exists for difficulty breathing. For some individuals, a sense of breathlessness may occur with only mild exercise (for example, climbing stairs) without an indication of the presence of a specific disorder. Others may have advanced lung disease and difficulty exchanging air but may never feel a sensation of shortness of breath.

In some circumstances, a small degree of breathing difficulty may be normal. Severe nasal congestion is one example. Strenuous exercise, especially when a person does not exercise regularly, is another. In many situations, however, difficulty breathing represents the presence of significant disease and should be evaluated by a health care provider immediately.

Wheezing is one form of breathing difficulty. See also rapid breathing, apnea, and other lung diseases.

    Common Causes

Shortness of breath has many different causes. Obstruction of the air passages of the nose, mouth, or throat may lead to difficulty breathing. Heart disease can cause breathlessness if the heart is unable to pump enough blood to supply oxygen to the body. If the brain, muscles, or other body organs do not receive enough oxygen, a sense of breathlessness may occur. Sometimes emotional distress, such as anxiety, can lead to difficulty breathing. Specific causes include the following:

    -Lung disease

    -Asthma

    -Emphysema

    -Coronary artery disease

    -Heart attack (myocardial infarction)

    -Interstitial lung disease

    -Pneumonia

    -Pulmonary hypertension

-Rapid ascent to high altitudes, with less oxygen in the air

    -Airway obstruction

    -Inhalation of a foreign object

    -Dust-laden environment

-Allergies (such as to mold, dander, or pollen)

    -Congestive heart failure (CHF)

    -Heart arrhythmias

    -Deconditioning (lack of exercise)

    -Obesity

    -Compression of the chest wall

-Panic attacksWhat the TRUE and ACCURATE definition of BREATHING DIFFICULTY?
Well, there are two ways to look at this. The first is signs. Signs are what I can see, hear, feel, or measure during an exam that are typically associated with someone who is having difficulty with breathing: Abnormal ABG results; Use of accessory muscles of respiration; Wheezing; Paradoxical breathing pattern; abnormal pulmonary function results; and so on.

The second is symptoms. These are your perceptions. Do you have trouble getting enough air or oxygen - feelings, not necessarily true, but the way you feel. Do you feel like you can't take a deep breath. Has there been a change in your breathing n response to your normal activities.

These are a couple of general ideas for you. True and accurate? It's how you feel and what can be measured. What the TRUE and ACCURATE definition of BREATHING DIFFICULTY?
Not normal breathing. If you notice it then it is a difficulty.

What Is Your Definition Of What A True NBA MVP Award Winner Should Be?

My definition of a true NBA MVP award winner is, if you take the best player off the team there is no way in hell the team will win, because he is the most valuable player on the team and thats why the team wins or even gets close to winning because they would sink without him. ---- And whatever team wins without him means he is not worthy of the MVP award.

Whats Your Definition? What Is Your Definition Of What A True NBA MVP Award Winner Should Be?
    good argument there...

...brian...definetly no best player on the best team

the best player doens't neccessarily mean the most valuable....

...i could say wade is the better player...but shaq is more valuable...

...nash is more valuable but marion is the better player

question.... the NBA's MVP.... that means... who is the NBA's most valuable player.... which could definetly be Kobe,,,put him on anyteam...ANYTEAM...and that team will make the playoffs... put Nash or Lebron on anyteam... and that team wont fit that player's playing style.... Kobe can adapt... he can take over.... he is the total package... he is the NBA's 06-07 MVP....... i dont even like this guy.... but he is the greatest this yearWhat Is Your Definition Of What A True NBA MVP Award Winner Should Be?
Who even cares who wins the MVP?! The NBA needs to have their version of the President's Trophy given to the team at the end of the year with the best record.

Did someone say that Phoenix would easily make the playoffs without Nash? You may want to rethink that!!
best player on the best team

    Why why why?

I see all this increasing jelousy these days... for what??Why is your definition of true happiness different from anyone else's definition of true happiness?
True happiness comes when you are satisfied with what you have and your heart is full of joy.

Have a nice day! :)Why is your definition of true happiness different from anyone else's definition of true happiness?
For me, success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.
happiness is walking with jesus you don't have to be dead and in heaven to feel him but all your stress and corruption is taken from you and you feel calm and happy
This is one way to happiness:

you can only get happiness by giving happiness to others
Happiness is a state of mind which differs from person to person.
    it's not really different.

What is the definition of a true empathetic person and what does it mean, the word empathy?

i have been describribed as a very empathetic person. What does that mean? What is the definition of a true empathetic person and what does it mean, the word empathy?
Empathy: is commonly defined as one's ability to recognize, perceive and feel directly the emotion of another.

    Heinz Kohut said that ';empathy is the capacity to think and feel oneself into the inner life of another person.';

I like his definition for empathy.

If someone said that to you then you should continue to be empathetic. It is a value that everyone should treasure.

To walk in one's shoes and feel the worn experiences is important to better understand the people you love and those who cannot love.

Good for you! :DWhat is the definition of a true empathetic person and what does it mean, the word empathy?
It means you can feel the emotions of others as they would pertain to you in the same situation.
It means the capacity to put yourself in another's place, or shoes. It's different from sympathy, though related. Sympathy is often interpreted as pity, but it implies more the ability to ';come alongside'; - which is one degree removed from empathy, perhaps?
It means to truly understand what someone is going through and to give that person support based on your previous experiences.

Some people confuse empathy with sympathy. Sympathy is when you feel sorry for someone for something they are going through.
Empathy and sympathy are closely related words. A sympathic person is able to look at a situation and relate in an analytical way to that situation. Empathy is a deeper emotion. You can almost feel the pain that someone else feels. Empathic people tend to be more artistic by nature. When someone describes you as being empathic, they imply that you hurt when they hurt, you cry when they cry, you feel as they feel. Remember, empathy is a very deep and complex emotion. Take it as a compliment.
I too have been described as being empathetic. For me, I consider being empathetic as being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes for a moment and imagine what it must feel like to be going through whatever they are going through, and then to act in a compassionate manner accordingly.
It means you feel pain when someone else drops an anvil on their foot

  • What is the true definition of ';to wear one's heart on one's sleeve'; thankyou?

The phrase means that one's actions can be so revealing of one's true character or feelings that he might just as well ';wear his heart upon his sleeve'; for everybody to see. What is the true definition of ';to wear one's heart on one's sleeve'; thankyou?
The popular expression of 'Wearing one's heart on one's sleeve' comes from the tradition prevalent in America and Britain around 1800s. At that time, young men used to wear slips of paper pinned on their sleeves and had their girlfriend's name written on it.

    Today it means

    Show emotions or feelings openly.

If you wear your heart on your sleeve, you openly express your feelings or emotions to others. What is the true definition of ';to wear one's heart on one's sleeve'; thankyou?
It means you make your emotions and feelings obvious to everyone.
Basically, it means showing your emotions and inner feelings to others.

    NurseMom :)
All the previous answers are correct.

It means you don't hide your emotions.

How ever you're feeling about someone or some subject everyone can see your true feelings.
it means that you are showing your true emotions about something or someone (usually involving love).

It comes from a few hundred years ago, when a girl would give a man she liked a handkerchief on it. If this man liked her back, he would attach this handkerchief to his wrist, and his true emotions would be shown.
It means that you show your emotions when dealing with people.

If you are angry or sad then it shows on your face and in your body language - just like wearing your emotions on a sleeve.
It means to let everyone and someone know exactly how much you feel about them so.....its basically seen as there for all too see and to hurt
You open up yourself to everyone you meet and often fall for every person of the opposite sex. You fall in love too easily.
The origin is from Shakespeare's ';Othello';.

Iago (a sneaky, cunning, conniving fellow) says

';For when my outward action doth demonstrate

The native act and figure of my heart

In compliment extern, 'tis not long after

But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve

    For daws to peck at: I am not what I am';

He is saying that he's a fake and a fraud, and were his actions to mirror his true thoughts, he would be wearing his heart on his sleeve where it is vulnerable.

It's really not about emotions, it's about one's true nature.

    Iago wasn't a nice guy.
to have the guts to be yourself - and be proud of it.
it means that you are very open with your emotions. you aren't the type who would keep it in.

What is your definition of a ';true democrat?'; Which ';democrat'; is the ';true'; one anyway? (please read)

I keep seeing people saying that a democrat who doesn't support whoever the DNC chooses was ';never a true democrat.'; (sounds like ';once saved, always saved'; LOL)

I'm an independent, so maybe I don't get the whole ';party loyalty'; thing, but seeing how registered democrats are so divided, why are democrats being coerced to be loyal to a party, when they may believe the party has not been loyal to them???

(this works for republicans too, I'm sure)What is your definition of a ';true democrat?'; Which ';democrat'; is the ';true'; one anyway? (please read)
There are some people that believe that the big issue with the Dem party at the moment is that the very liberal (who have been taking over the party) are pulling for Obama and the more moderates are going with Hillary. But you have a very good point that lack of loyalty begets lack of loyalty.

This is why many moderate Dems are seriously looking at McCain (moderate Repub). I think the country is quite PRIMED at the moment to start a third party with more moderate views.

If you look at many of the polls of regular people on specific issues, the people tend to be more moderate. For example, I read somewhere that 60% of people in this country think abortion has to be legal but they want it to be very rare. What is your definition of a ';true democrat?'; Which ';democrat'; is the ';true'; one anyway? (please read)
If this was a Popularity contest it would make no difference.. But the idea of voting for a Party is because that party supports your personal beliefs.. To jump ship due to something as silly as sour grapes, is basically saying you have NO REASON you were voting for someone except when you vote on something besides the issues.. Especially when you go so drastic to vote for a party which you have nothing in common with when it comes to the issues they support.. There is no place in politics for sour grapes.. After all you vote will dictate how you live for the next 4 years plus! Not to vote for the party who's issues which most effect you and will effect you is just silly and childish!
The only way a party, either party, or any of the top 3, excuse me, WINS is through -- -- TA DA -- -- PARTY UNITY.

The Democrat party often lacks for that lately, i.e. the last 28 years. It's what wins elections.
A democrat is a person similar to Kennedy and what he represented, in my opinion. And, Obama represents that.
true democrats were assassinated right along with jfk...now, the democrats have become full-blown socialists on their way to becoming full-blown communists. 'tis a pity alright...
A true democrat is an open minded person who believes in true democracy anywhere in the world, where there is democracy-other kinds of rule are optional.
The party has moved to far to the center in recent years. Clinton was a centrist.

a true democrat is easily identified as the one the hardcore base supports....that would be Dennis Kucinich
    HILLARY!
    yep
John F. Kennedy gets my conservative, registered Republican vote

I was too young to vote in 1960 and my family was staunchly Republican, but I was drawn to Kennedy. He wanted America to have a bright future and recognized that we could only have it if we worked for it together. He was a true “unifier” who recognized that unity could only result from the people’s own commitment to the “common good” as they determined it to be. He had a special interest in the poor and the disadvantaged, but he never suggested that we could achieve any common good by divisive words or actions that would pit one economic class against another in the hope that promoting the welfare of one class at the expense of another would somehow produce the kind of unity that would benefit us all.

John Kennedy was the first and only U.S. President to understand modern economics. It was he, not Ronald Reagan, who entered the concept of “trickle-down economics” into our political consciousness. He believed that “A rising tide floats all boats,” and it was his policies that caused the tide to rise and the boats to float.

Kennedy had the ability to inspire people to a degree of selflessness and sacrifice that we have not seen since. He was assassinated before he could make his mark through his deeds, but his words continue to be a source of inspiration. When people read what Kennedy said more than 40 years ago, the words are as uplifting as they were for those who heard him speak them. Kennedy was a politician, but he was one who had an almost unique ability to use the same words to speak to everyone. Even Ronald Reagan, the “Great Communicator,” came up short in trying to do the same.

Many of us who are conservatives today remember John Kennedy, who in his own time was a liberal Democrat. And for many of us it was Kennedy who made it possible to believe that voting for the person, not the party was the best way to promote the common good. Many Democrats, including liberal ones, draw from the wisdom of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt in charting a course for America. And many Republicans, including conservative ones, return the compliment by doing the same with John F. Kennedy.

Forget about Joe Dimaggio. Where have you gone, John F. Kennedy?

What is the true definition of a sociopath?

Antisocial Personality Disorder is also known as psychopathy or

sociopathy. Individuals with this disorder have little regard for the

feeling and welfare of others. As a clinical diagnosis it is usually

limited to those over age 18. It can be diagnosed in younger people

if the they commit isolated antisocial acts and do not show signs of

    another mental disorder.

Antisocial Personality Disorder is chronic, beginning in adolescence

and continuing throughout adulthood. There are ten general

    symptoms:

    not learning from experience

    no sense of responsibility

    inability to form meaningful relationships

    inability to control impulses

    lack of moral sense

    chronically antisocial behavior

no change in behavior after punishment

    emotional immaturity

    lack of guilt

    self-centeredness

People with this disorder may exhibit criminal behavior. They may

not work. If they do work, they are frequently absent or may quit

suddenly. They do not consider other people's wishes, welfare or

rights. They can be manipulative and may lie to gain personal

pleasure or profit. They may default on loans, fail to provide child

support, or fail to care for their dependents adequately. High risk

sexual behavior and substance abuse are common. Impulsiveness,

failure to plan ahead, aggressiveness, irritability, irresponsibility,

and a reckless disregard for their own safety and the safety of

others are traits of the antisocial personality.

Socioeconomic status, gender, and genetic factors play a role.

Males are more likely to be antisocial than females. Those from

lower socioeconomic groups are more susceptible. A family history

of the disorder puts one at higher risk.

There are many theories about the cause of Antisocial Personality

Disorder including experiencing neglectful parenting as a child, low

levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, and belief that

antisocial behavior is justified because of difficult circumstances.

Psychotherapy, group therapy, and family therapy are common

treatments. The effects of medical treatment are inconclusive.

Unfortunately, most people with Antisocial Personality Disorder

reject treatment. Therefore, recovery rates are low.

I think I know some people who fit this description, scary. Hope this helps. What is the true definition of a sociopath?
Read some Dean Koontz books . . . that dude knows sociopaths . . .What is the true definition of a sociopath?

What is your definition of a true friend?

=) let me know. What is your definition of a true friend?
Well... a true friend is there for you when the **** hits the fan - always looking out for your best interest.

Your ';friends'; aren't your friends, when you are young you have hundreds but once you grow up you start to realize who your real friends are. As far as I am concerned, I have my family and 5 true friends (which I've known for over 8+ years)What is your definition of a true friend?
my definition of a true friend is a person , that can except you, no matter what you do, or how you look. It's a person, that you can trust, and can depend on, in any circumstance. Also, a person that is loyal, loving, understanding, caring, respec鈥?easy to talk to. There's lots more, but that's what you'll find in a true friend.

    :D
-thinks fondly of my one and only best friend-

My best friend means more to me then anyone. He can look at me and see that something is wrong without ever having to mention it. He calls randomly, we constantly bag on each other, and go to each other with our problems. He listens to everything I say, and tells me when I'm wrong, agrees or disagrees and tells me why. He understands what I think and feel without ever having to ask.

He just knows. It's almost like having that strong bond that twins have, only with your best friendly. I have tons of friends, but no one else has been deemed worthy of the title BEST FRIEND except for him. We don't throw our friendship or our title around lightly. It means so much to us both.

I trust him with my life, and visa versa. I can honestly say we think about each other at least once a day if not more. We can't stay out of each other's heads. Lol

Anyway, hope this is a pretty accurate description of a TRUE best friend. I could go on and on though. ^^
someone who always has your back and someone who makes you happy and someone you don't play games with and someone who is straight up awesome! =]

What's your definition of a true, dedicated fan?

Could be a fan of anything

(movie series, book, band, etc)What's your definition of a true, dedicated fan?
someone who has an all an artists albums, knows every word to every song, and has countless posters.

someone who has all the books of one author/or series and can recite specific quotes and their pages (which isn't impossible: people know this like that from the bible)

someone who has all the movies and can tell you exactly what the person is going to say nextWhat's your definition of a true, dedicated fan?
Someone who listens to more than 10 songs by an artist, possibly owns at least one CD, doesn't certainly 'love' every song, doesn't stop likeing the band just because they gain popularity.

What is the definition of a ';True Conservative';?

I have seen the expression used in several answers and I wonder if some of the younger participants in YA can define the current definition of the ';conservative concept.';What is the definition of a ';True Conservative';?
The same as that of a 'true progressive,' 'true christian,' 'true Democrat,' etc.

';Agrees With My Political Opinions.';What is the definition of a ';True Conservative';?
Well if you believe in being a convservative, what you believe is that the government has a limited role and that we should follow the words and advice of our founder fathers and our constituion. But today with people like John Mccain getting the label ';conservative'; it seems like almost anything can pass for conservative, so basically, it very poor label and you should look for other words to describe yourself and others.
Definition of the term would imply a Constitutional approach, I think.

This has been hijacked by those who seek to appease in concept while committing their back-room deals.

Adding the qualifier 'True' suggests but does no define the imitation that would be 'False', much like 'true' knowledge.

Once the term is preceded by the qualifier, it no longer has meaning w/o that qualifier, so that it has no meaning at all.
    http://www.conservapedia.com/Conservativ鈥?/a>
    Well, it used to be inline with the Republican concepts of smaller federal government, lower taxes and a ';socially liberal'; philosophy of ';do what you want, I don't care, just don't ask me to pick up after you.';

Its turned into a socially conservative philosophy, larger government and fiscal insanity.
Well think about the word and break it down. They want to never change, be fruggle, never move, and be very hard nosed about it. True Conservatives typically are religous or military people that think the world is going to hell in a hand basket. That the world was simpler and safer when they were young. The fact is that everyone becomes a little more conservative when the get older. When you are young your eyes are shut. Then when you open them you get scared and hide in your shell. Conservatives can be described in one word as a Turtle.
White, christian, full of fear and hate for anything outside their culture.
Less taxes, less spending, a hand up and not a hand out. Yet it is far wiser to keep my mouth shut and look like a fool than open it and remove all doubt.(Abe Lincoln)...advice I do not heed all to well as most know all ready.

A conservative is one who adheres to principles of limited government, personal responsibility and moral virtue. A conservative would likely agree with the statement in George Washington's Farewell Address that ';religion and morality are indispensable supports'; to political prosperity.Conservatism arose in the 19th century as a response to liberalism, particularly as manifested in the French Revolution.
    A True Conservative:

    He/She loves God and country.

    Is for lower taxes

Is for more freedoms, smaller government.

Believes in holding people responsible for their actions and the rule of law.

Loves his neighbors and is willing to help others in the world uplift themselves despite the hate rhetoric spewed from the left here at home.

Believes we can co-exist with the enviroment rather than destroy it (and the economy) under the guise of saving it.

Bottom line is: A True Conservative is a Real American.
The concept of political conservatism has to be kept vaguely defined to preserve future deniability because conservatives are always losing specific political fights. ';Political conservative'; means someone who is fighting to preserve the political status quo which is allowing two per cent to control most of the nation`s wealth.
    A liberal in today's world.
Conservative= there is a saying in Germany ( a farmer doesn't eat what he doesn't know) a conservative person is a strict and traditional thinking person.

Conservatism is a term used to describe political philosophies that favor tradition and gradual change, where tradition refers to religious, cultural, or nationally defined beliefs and customs. Where Liberalism is more a free and compromising way of thinking. for example: Liberal= the farmer would ask himself what is in the food and finds out and then eats it if he likes it!

Unfortunately the meaning of conservative has become so much more negative through the Republicans over the last few years.
Anyone haunted by the fear that someone, somewhere (especially if they're gay) might be happy and has irresistible desire to crush that happiness.

Is this the true definition of Feminism?

    ';Misery loves company';

I have seen nice loving couples break up because the women was persuaded by a feminist that her boyfriend or in one case husband was just using her for sex and that he did not really love her, BTW, once they broke up, both the man and woman were miserable.

So is this the TRUE definition, not what you see in the dictionary. Is this the true definition of Feminism?
    @tehabwa:

Your statement: ';Every one who has any brain know that dictionary is where to find definition.'; contains only HALF truth. And HALF truth is WORSE than a LIE.

Every one with BIG brain know that dictionary is served ONLY as a referent point for complex matter, such as ';Feminist';. That's why dictionaries are shelved in the Reference Section in any Library.

    A standard def. of Feminist is :';...someone who CLAIMS to fight for equality of women';. ';...some one who CLAIMS that women have been treated ';unfair'; in the PAST and PRESENT';

Your cheap trick can FOOL nobody but yourself. Next time, try harder, you habitual liar.Is this the true definition of Feminism?
Any women/whom is disuaded/by anyone-to break up with anyone/for sexual reason's such as this/is not a woman, she's a little girl. IF someone is with someone else/their own mind's should be clear enuf to tell them what is going on/and if not--then they aren't even stable enough to be in a relationship to begin with. And of course they both were miserable/why didn't they sit down talk out the mistake/and fall madly in love again? Boy , some of the things ppl/do because of other ppl, is unnerving. Just a thought, thankx. Victorianlady359
I think what you're describing is a homewrecker (as well as a person who apparently puts more stock in others' advice than her own convictions when it comes to her personal life), not necessarily a feminist.

People who try to break couples up may do so for a number of reasons (jealousy, spite or sexism like you mention, or perhaps opportunism (e.g. A wants B, so she pressures C to break up with him) or a simple desire to demonstrate control over others' social circles to themselves) - many of these don't necessitate any sort of opinion on women's or men's rights.
Definition of feminism, no. Rather disconcerting side effect of feminism, yes. For some reason feminists can't understand that partners can be compatible to one another, love one another, and find great pleasure in each other's company. Since they can't understand this, they destroy it. Just like every other person with a deeply held prejudice, they destroy what they find different and thus fear.
    No.

Everyone who has any brain knows that dictionaries are where to find definitions.

Uh, how do YOU know why those couples broke up?

Most people are sad after a break-up.

It's simply a huge fat lie that what feminism is about is breaking up couples.

The person you're talking about isn't a feminist, but a busy-body. NOT the same thing at all.
Misery loves company, indeed! Which is why mens and father's rights activists like yourself, congregate and act like idiots on sites like this. You're all on the pervy side, too.
I thought people like that were called c.ock blockers, now we call them feminists? Either way, people like that suck anyway.

For Anyone knowledgeable in Greek: What is the true definition of the term Christianos?

Please be thorough; The only definition that I have come across is ';Followers of Christ';For Anyone knowledgeable in Greek: What is the true definition of the term Christianos?
As confirmed before, christianos (χριστιανός, keep in mind that the pronunciation is not like that of ';christ';, ch is a h as in horse, i is short ee etc) means follower of Christ, believer in Christianity. Actually, the word is a greek version of the Roman latin word christianus (relating to christ), produced by the combination of the greek word christos (χριστός =nominable, anointable ==anointed) and the latin suffix -ianus. See:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/c…

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/c…

    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q…

(you asked for thoroughness). For Anyone knowledgeable in Greek: What is the true definition of the term Christianos?
Χριστιανός= a christian, yes a follower of Christ.
christianos comes from the word christos which means Christ. according to the encyclopedia of oxford the definition is 'the one who believes in Christ'
It could have meant in the early days 'one like Christ' and if you push etymology enough 'one like an anointed one' since christos in Greek by itself means 'anointed one' (Messiah). As it is generally used, those, it means disciple or follower of Christ.
in modern greek mans Christian (simply)!!

Is this the true definition of the recursive equation an = an - 1 + d?

';The value of any term in the arithmetic sequence is the value of the previous term minus some variable amount d.';Is this the true definition of the recursive equation an = an - 1 + d?
    An arithemetic progression = a + (a + d) + (a + 2d) + . . . + (a + (n-1)d)

    The general term, a(n) = a + (n-1)d

The recursive formula = the previous term + the common difference (the common difference can have a negative value).

The previous term is usually denoted by a(n-1)

    (n-1 written as subscript).

So the third term, recursively, would be written a(2) + d

I hope thats what you ment! What is your definition of true happiness?
Jumping on our trampoline with my 3 year old laughing her head off. What is your definition of true happiness?
I don't believe in true happiness. I guess my definition is true contentment and that is completely satisfied with who you are and where you are in your life.
Happiness is a choice YOU have to make. It is a state of being only you can create. The key to unlocking the state of absolute happiness and joy right now, this very moment. If you could control your thoughts, you would immediately bring all your feelings under control. You would never ‘feel bad’ again. The absolute control of thought CAN be achieved. It can be accomplished, regardless of the belief to the contrary. It is not as difficult as one might believe. This CAN be learned by anyone willing to make the effort, and it can happen almost immediately. Think for a moment about how this would feel. Really try to imagine what your life would be like if you never, EVER experienced another negative thought. Pretend for a moment. Try to envision a life in which you experience ONLY what you wish to experience. Can this happen?

    Wish you luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I'll define it when I find it..Right about now ,I simply don't know..sob........sob....
to love and be loved, to be free of fear and stress and at peace with one's self.
Finding happiness is like finding yourself. You don't find happiness, you make happiness. You choose happiness. Self-actualization is a process of discovering who you are, who you want to be and paving the way to happiness by doing what brings YOU the most meaning and contentment to your life over the long run.

Happiness is not in having or being—it is in the doing.

This definition of happiness by Lillian Watson.

What's the use of happiness? It can't buy you money.

This funny quote on happiness by Henny Youngman

    g-day!
warm summers day kids laughing together in the garden me and my fella sat together watching them
Freedom from human's abuses.. Freedom from humans... Plus.. the powers and abilities to access and navagate the afterife in style...
My bed my boyfriend and me quiet and watching tv ♥
Being at peace with God. There is nothing in the world like it.
My definition of happpiness is being truely gratefull for the things that we already have in our lives.

Instead of focusing of the things that we wished we had, why don't people really look and see the things they already have,

maybe its somebody who truely loves them unconditionally, (plenty of lonely people outthere), 2020 vision etc

So my definition is the little things in life that are always takien for granted
Having 300 dollars at the end of the month and watching the sunset.
when you have a wife who truly loves you ,children who are healthy and behave in a respect full manner ,you are ahead with all your bills ,treat others as you would like them to treat you and except no less from anyone, show charity to them that need.believe in God ,and thank him for allowing you to be born in a privileged and rich country and not a poor war torn one and being sure in the fact that you did the best that you could in the things that matter in life.oh and not thinking that you are better than anyone else, cos your not.
There is no such thing as true happiness in the sense that most people define it.

Happiness always has its opposite following close behind which is sadness - we fall in love and are happy, our lover leaves us and there is great pain afterwards. When we have something good, our ego attaches to it and there is great pain on its departure. Happiness is just concealed pain, a temporary quick fix.

True happiness is really joy which is an eternal and constant sense of peace and joy irrespective of what is going on in the external world. This comes from non attachement and true love. The ability to love others while not trying to control them with ego.

True peace and joy comes from going beyond ego and just by being, here and now in the playing field of the present moment instead of torn between a past / future orientated despair ';Oh, I will happy when I get here or when I have this or when I meet them';. You are living in the future, a non existent reality.

NOW is the only place where true joy can be found. You will flow with the cosmic dance of life, things will come and go and you will enjoy them………while they last with a constant sense of peace.

Trust me it is pure heaven on Earth.
Having good health, enough food and a roof over my head, no debts, and believing that my dad (who passed away last month) forgave me all those times I was nasty to him. If I can one day believe that, and not feel that I'm kidding myself, I'd have found my happiness. Till then, I'll look out for a sign from him.
That can only be determined by the one seeking it.
True happiness is always there with your family and friends.

People are not consistent we always want the best or other people have.

Whats the true definition of global warming?

The true definition of global warming is when the Earth warms up from it's current temperature state. For this current cycle, we have exited a mini ice age around 1850, about the same time that people started to track temperatures on a regular basis. Since there is no good temperature data from before this most climate scientists have assumed that the Earth hasn't been warmer during this interglacieral period.Whats the true definition of global warming?
Global warming is the observed and projected increases in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. The Earth's average temperature rose about 0.6掳 Celsius (1.1掳 Fahrenheit) in the 20th century. After careful review of temperature records spanning at least 3 decades, we decided to use the term climate change in place of the term global warming.

Climate change is the deviation of precipitation, humidity, cloud cover, wind speed, temperature range, elevation, and amount of permafrost of a given region from a predetermined computer generated theoretical norm.Whats the true definition of global warming?
When the Earth was warming it meant the Earth was warming and it was our fault.

Now that it's not, it means that the climate will change and it's our fault.

The climate, of course, always changes.
Forget the ever-popular but highly inacurate conspiracy theories. Want to know the basics about global warming? You need look no further than Wikipedia:

Personally, love is passion and possession. But that is tied in with my personal demons. I'm sure real love is alot quieter. Hopefully, one day I'll be lucky enough to discover compassionate love. What is the true definition of love from your own perspective?
i would say that loving someone is caring for someone, and puting them first, sacrificing yourself for that person...

also God is the only person that can love you more then anyone else...
    It's different for everyone.

Here's an article I wrote on my perception of it but, in reality it can mean so much to so many.

    http://www.socyberty.com/Relationships/What-is-Love-Really.188419
I agree with the Apostle Paul's description of love in his letter to the Romans where he talks about love being patient, kind, not insisting on getting its own way, etc.
A magical deep feeling between 2 people showing attraction and affection towards eachother
Loving someone with all your heart, soul, and mind. Caring about that person more than yourself.
    Love doesn't exist. It's a fantasy. We want, need, desire, etc. but love ';is just a lie to get us through.';
caring for someone else more than yourself.
it is said that GOD IS LOVE. from that springs real love.

What is the true definition of a pub?

It is from Elizabethan times. Drinking establishments, which usually offered more carnal diversions too, we called Public Houses. Things got a bit weird after Bess kicked off, and over the years the lazy Brits pared it down to one syllable. What is the true definition of a pub?
To me, a pub (we are talking Irish Pubs aren`t we?) should have an irish band playing irish music, serve only imported beers and have lots of hunky Irish waiters!!!!What is the true definition of a pub?
a bar is situated within the public house
the pub started in england i believe, why,not sure
Pubs seem to serve more beer - bars serve more shorts? plus pubs are more cosy to sit in than bars! I prefer to sit in my local pub with its battered seats rather than a posh bar!
Where the town's finest binge-drinkers go to do their drinking...
    It comes from the term ';public house.';
isn't a pub open to more people -public house, as in they have beer gardens etc and children areas -they welcome all the family and serve food and drinks, whereas a bar just does drinks and only allows those who are of legal age in?

    im guessing!
    public house
    public house
A public house or an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages and food, but not full meals.
pub, pub, who mentioned the pub....... It definately comes from the term Public House.

What is the true definition of Satanism?

When people think of Satanism, they think of drinking virgin’s blood, sacrificing babies, and selling your soul to the devil. Although that might sound nifty, they are way off. Satanism is about individualism, bettering yourself, and not being a dumb ***. If you took the time to learn about Satanism you might think of it differently, and might see that you can gain a lot from it. In Satanism, you see yourself as “God” and “Satan” both. God represents the way you are in control of yourself. You are the only person who can change yourself, and it wastes time and brain cells praying to something that will not do anything for you. Satan represents the sin and wants you have. Without the “Satan” side, which people usually frown upon, you would have to filter what you want and you would never truly be happy. ';Oh, does GOD think this is ok?'; ';Would GOD approve of this?';... Think for yourselves. Christians claim to be happy, but how could they be when they have to worry if ';GOD'; approves of their lifestyle. Satanism is a religion for people who know how to run their own life without hurting others. If you claim to be a Satanist, and you go and murder people because you “want” to, you are not a Satanist. Part of the religion is knowing that everybody has their own life, and if they want to waste it then they have that right to. Open-mindedness is a main part of the religion, and it all makes since. The only way you could call Satanism stupid or wrong AFTER you fully learned about it is if you use the “but god says ___” comeback. What is the true definition of Satanism?

Swashbuckler is a term that came about in the 16th century and was applied to rough, noisy and boastful swordsmen. It came about due to the popularity of the fighting style using a side-sword with a buckler in the off-hand, which was filled with much ';swashing and making a noise on the buckler

Today the term ';swashbuckler'; is used to denote a particular type of character and is usually applied to fictional characters. A swashbuckler will display a strong sense of justice, an aptitude for and enjoyment of fighting, and calmness, class, and wit even during combat. The archetypical swashbuckler is a handsome young rapier-wielding European man from the 16th to the 18th century, though as ';swashbuckler'; is a character type, it is not confined to time or place. The showiness of this type of swashbuckler is particularly appropriate as regards stage fighting, which has more in common with the art of fencing, in which the fighting is a stylized form originally used to teach the principles of actual dueling, while real sword fighting aims at bodily harm.

An Elizabethan youth or ruffian often predisposed to street fight and duel, so called by the ';swashing'; sound created by sword and buckler on the belt as the youth swaggered about town. More likely derived from any person who roved the town, usually in gangs, hitting his sword against his buckler as a way of challenging innocent passers-bye to a fight. The term ';swash'; also has more than one meaning. In older English swish or swishing, meant ';to hit';. There is also proof of the term swash being used in the context of hitting with the sword, e.g. delivering a 鈥?quot;swash blow';, also expressions such as, ';swashing a drum'; to describe its playing or beating.
It came about during the 16th century. It means ';flamboyant swordsman/adventurer'; or ';sword-wielding ruffian/bully';.

What is the true definition of Necromancy?

Google dungeons and dragons because necromancy is fantasy. What is the true definition of Necromancy?
The blackest of all the black arts is undoubtedly necromancy, the ancient method of communication with the dead. The art of raising the dead and controlling their spirits takes its name from Greek words meaning ';dead'; and ';divination';.

    Other def.

    nec·ro·man·cy (nkr-mns)

    n.

    1. The practice of supposedly communicating with the spirits of the dead in order to predict the future.

    2. Black magic; sorcery.

    3. Magic qualities.

[Alteration of Middle English nigromancie, from Old French nigremancie, from Medieval Latin nigromantia, alteration (influenced by Latin niger, black) of Late Latin necromantia, from Greek nekromanteia : nekros, corpse; see nek-1 in Indo-European roots + manteia, divination; see -mancy.]What is the true definition of Necromancy?
Necromancy [nikroʊmeɪnsi] (Greek νεκρομαντία, nekromantía) is a form of divination in which the practitioner seeks to summon ';operative spirits'; or ';spirits of divination';, for multiple reasons, from spiritual protection to wisdom. The word necromancy derives from the Greek νεκρός (nekrós), ';dead';, and μαντεία (manteía), ';divination';.

However, since the Renaissance, necromancy has come to be associated more broadly with black magic and demon-summoning in general, sometimes losing its earlier, more specialized meaning. By popular etymology, nekromantia became nigromancy ';black arts';, and Johannes Hartlieb (1456) lists demonology in general under the heading. Eliphas Levi, in his book Dogma et Ritual, states that necromancy is the evoking of aerial bodies (aeromancy).
Communication with the dead. But, scripturally, this is impossible, because the Bible says that ';the dead know not anything';. So when people believe they are communicating with the ';dead'; (i.e., John Edwards), they are really communicating with demons/fallen angels.

true friend: a person that knows you and likes u anyway! lol! What is the definition of a TRUE friend?
Your true friends are the ones that will sitck by you through anything. I just realized a while ago that i had many true friends, they were by my side through hell and they brought me out of a depression. True friends are people that will be there for you through thick and thin and not complain about it or ask for anything in return when they do help you. They will always, no matter what, be there with you in spirit, and they will stay in your soul for the rest of your life! True friends are the ones that are not fake and they tell you the truth, always, and they remain loyal.
Good question!! My true friends love me for me no matter what happens or how I screw up they don't judge me, they are there to help. You will know that you have found a true friend when they go out of their way to show they care. When your in trouble even if you deserved it, they will support you anyway! good luck believe me true friends are hard to find. But when you find them feel blessed to have them.
One you can always turn to esp. when you need them to comfort you and help you to feel better and will tell you the truth to make you a better person and not just accept your story or take your side but tell you what you need to hear.
A true friend is your confidante.
