These people are insulting and know nothing of true ninjutsu. The closest and most true definition of being and following the way of the ninja is this:
To be unseen.
To be unheard.
To be one with the shadows.
To know yourself.
To know your enemy.
To be aware.
20 years can or cannot turn any one person into a ninja. It all matters what you do with the training.

to be a ninja, you have to actually be able to perform what youve studied, outside, and perfection it even better later by your experiences.
a ninja is a spy more than an assasin, and ninja means ';one who is concealed,'; or ';one that endures';.

If u whant to be a true ninja u must be qutie skilled in many things. A ninja must be able yo deceve his opponents, appearing to be what he is not. A true ninja must have absolute control over aruky walking, and ninjutsu, espetialy the Togakore school.If u studied ninjutsu for so long u should know all of thise thing, yet u still ask. Therefore the ansewer u whant should be found within you!But no mater how hard u trane u still can't become a true ninja.True ninjas were sthelthfull spies and dedly assasins, and I don't think u have ever endulged in such things.

However, I would say that 5 to 10 years of dedicated training at Bujinkan would sure turn you into a ninja. If you just want to have the life ninjas had it is not a matter of training, you better join the Army Rangers for that.
in order to be a ninja, you must find it within yourself....or do crazy azz kong fu with a sword and be able to mow down waves of enemies. one or the other. also if you can scream this at the top of your lungs:

How many people have you killed? How much money do you have? Can you still see yourself in a mirror? can you make everything? these are all questions you have to ask yourself. could you kill me? i can answer taht question for you... no you can't i'm invincible and i'll tear your face from nerves and laugh as you asplode. beign a ninja is being a mercenary, an assasin, amd a lover. so basically your an odd job killer. If you can kille aptly and take pleasure in it than your a true ninja. if you can jsut make stuff i recomend you become a carpenter cause if you can't kill people and use your cool ninja techniques than you just wasted 20 years of your life. if you think its being like helping people .... A true Ninja is a spy for the warlords in the Feudal Japan. They must accomplish their mission by any means(deceit, death, sex, and martial arts). There is no real purpose for a ninja nowaday. Mostly, your training(if you have one) is for health purpose.
you must first go on a quest.you shall be hire as an assassin,but you must never be seen by the human eye,invisible like the wind and ready to strike like a cobra.then you will be ready my son.go now and become a true hakage.
