is it just knowing how to play all your favorite songs? to know all cords? to read sheet music? to be able to learn everything by ear? to have fast finger-strum coordination? to know all techniques?
What is the definition of a REAL guitar player, my friend says he can play the guitar, yet all he does is show off 2 or 3 perfected songs. Now that i have a guitar, I need to know how to be a real guitar playerWhat is the TRUE definition of a Guitar Player?
I'm in music school and we discuss musicianship all of the time....
Only playing 3 songs is far from it....
It's the ability to read music
being tolerant of other music.
Having good sight reading skills
Knowing the history behind your instrument and the music you play on it.
being willing to perform and help others using your talent.
the drive to learn more and the capability to play the entire range of the instrument. What is the TRUE definition of a Guitar Player?
To me, a real guitar player is a passionate and talented guitar player who dedicated much time and energy to perfecting their craft. They not only can play covers but also are able to write and compose their own music.
Does a real guitar player read music? Know all scales and modes? Know everything there is to know about the guitar? No...of course not. If thats true, then Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn are not true guitarists. But, you do have to know your chords, scales, notes, etc to be a more accomplished guitarist and to be able to expand and understand your playing.
Eric Clapton is not a fast guitar player, but one of the greatest. Accuracy is way more important. All guitar players have different techniques as well.
I could ramble on and on because its hard to say what a ';real'; guitar player is. But I can say...a real guitar player can do more than 3 perfected songs that someone else wrote.
all of the above. and you have to be able to imagine a song in your head and transfer it from your head to a guitar. its called making music. sweeps and legatos are fun to mess around with to
